Pre Concert Rambles and Funny Stories About KKCK's Crazy Suckiness 7/18/02

Well, the RFW is lucky. She gets to go see Filter. That lucky bitch. HEY, wait, that's me. Anyways, I get to go see Filter on Sunday and I'm very excited. I'm going to the last Locobazooka show in Council Bluffs, IA. A whole seven hours away from me. That's a long way to travel. But it'll be so worth it. I can't wait to go even though it'll be unbearable in the heat and humidity. I'm just praying that it doesn't rain. I don't need to get sick so I can't ramble at you fine folk.

I've decided I'm going to buy two disposable cameras. One so I can take pictures of various things and well. . . me and if they take my second one away when I try to take it into the amphitheater, nothing's lost but a cheap ass camera. I don't know if they don't allow camreas still because of the line at the Westfair Amphitheater site: Also, cameras and recording devices at Westfair Amphitheather. You explain that sentence to me. Oh, oh, oh! Grammar lesson, Mr. Kotter! YOU NEED A FUCKING VERB IN THE SENTENCE! Anyways, moving on. . .

I have no idea what any of the bands sound like other than Filter, Sevendust and Earshot, so this will be a neat experience. I've only seen concerts with one band at a time up until now. Rolling Stones(94 and 98), Led Zeppelin(97), Aerosmith(99). It's been ages since I've seen live music and I'm very excited to see some live music, especially Filter. It'll be a blast just to be in the scene of it. I can't wait. Oh, I already said that.

I'm not sure what to expect from a Filter concert, but I have a funny feeling it'll be different than anything else. I've learned that from watching footage of other bands and then seeing them live that you can't actually understand what it feels like to see a band live unless you're well. . . seeing them live! It'll be fun and that's all I know for the time being on that.

Now, here's a bit of news from my local Rural, Greater Minnesota area of crappy radio. KKCK( http://www.997kkck.com/ ) my crappy radio station has startled me once again by actually playing Filter. Not the crappy, watered down versiong of Take a Picture, but the new single. Where Do We Go From Here has actually made it here at around the same time as the rest of the stations, or well, only a few weeks late. Finally. I'm thrilled.

Anyways, I've been tuning in from time to time to see if they are playing the song and I'm harassing them through the website by requesting non stop and voting on the Hot 9@9. I'm thankful to all of you who are helping and while I don't want Filter to be "overplayed," but for now, while it is still new and the album isn't quite out, I'll be a thorn in KKCK's side. I sure don't want this song to suffer Take A Picture syndrome, but damn it, I'm sick of Nelly and his Hot In Here song. I swear, that song is just obnoxious. Not to mention this new rap song on KKCK lately that has this woman who sings in this annoying voice, "Boy, oh boy!"

I was checking in around six last night to see what they were playing. Just as I turned it on, Filter ended. Damn it. Oh well. But what the DJ said was even funnier. Our DJ said, "And that was Filter with Where Do We Go From Here from the album coming out on July 30th, The Amalgamut. And when we come back from break, FILTER. . .uh, wait, I just played that. I mean Fuel." Maybe KKCK is getting a little Filter happy. It's not like the day before when the DJ said, "And that was Mr. Richard Patrick and Filter with Where Do We Go From Here." Gotta love KKCK.

Oh and feel free to mock KKCK. I do daily. It's a joke around here that KKCK's call letters stand for "Krap Krap C Krap." I can't stand this station for the most parts. Sure, its got it's moments, but they are so far between one another. Any station that brags they are the "Better Music Mix" and plays Nelly on the hour EVERY hour should just be put out of it's misery. Sorry. I just think that it's terrible that they boast about "Stations, what other stations? You're on KKCK, the Better Music Mix." Thanks guys. Thank's for reminding me that I live in Radio Hell.

Oh well, I'll enjoy watching Filter inFILTRATE this crap station for awhile. Jesus, do we need a new station. WHY can't I get the KRRO! I'll end it here. Oh and dudes, go vote in the crappy Hot 9@9! It'll make me feel better. http://www.997kkck.com/
