Dear Rich,
With as much excitement and anticipation I had into going to the show in Minneapolis on October 2nd, I realize that there are times when all of us must take that time to step away and take care of ourselves instead. And I understand that. For now, my only hope is that I can be understanding enough and patient enough and that you are getting all the R&R and help that you need to get back on your feet before returning to the road.
Knowing that I was lucky enough this July to see you in concert and get your autograph is satisfying and exciting in itself. It is an experience you have given me that I could have not received any other way and will cherish always. Not to sound sappy or anything, of course. . .
Before I first picked up Title of Record in 2000 I never considered listening to much of anything new. I sat with my classic rock(mostly the Rolling Stones) and enjoyed myself, but when I first listened to Title, I found myself changing. It was the raw energy and emotions and honesty that sold me on it and then I had to get Short Bus to see what else there was I had been missing. And there again, I found that honesty and vital energy that had been lacking in the music on my home town radio that I avoid as much as I can. Here was something I could relate to and that's one thing that keeps me as a fan with the Amalgamut.
On the Amalgamut, I identify with many of the songs as an American and as a human being and it is something I can understand. It's not sugar coated, it's not superficial and it's not afraid to say some things others may be to say. I anticipated this new record up until its release and haven't been disappointed yet.
And now that things are where they stand now, I can't imagine actually demanding more than your recovery. Not for me or your friends and family or anyother fan or the band. For you. It's not easy to be where you are but at least something is being done to fix it. I know I can't demand more than what you've already given me. Music I can relate to and enjoy, an unforgettable concert experience and more laughs than I've ever had watching things like the Amalgamut EPK or Phenomenology. That's all I can ever ask. Because to ask more is just rude and well. . .just not cool.
So Rich, take your time, take care of yourself and we'll all be waiting for you on the other side.
Love and MUCH respect,
Allison, The RFW
PS. Oh yeah, and if you remember a little blonde girl jumping by that fence from Council Bluffs, that was ME.
